Rolande’s writing escapades began at Uni where he founded, compiled and edited a termly poetry magazine to support his own needs as a thirsty student!
He has been commissioned to write scripts for TV ads, to devise an ‘A’ level Media textbook and has written the syllabus for both Level 2 and Level 3 ‘Television Production’ (OCR exam board). Being on the National Steering Panel for satellite broadcasting (Eutelsat), he was then commissioned to write consultancy reports evaluating the advent of broadband communication in education.
Rolande developed and budgeted a 6-part television drama series for ITV but has also felt the disappointment of having another drama series rejected before ‘development’ was even considered.
He is the author of various youth theatre productions, was part of County T.I.E. teams performing in Buckinghamshire and Cornwall and once held the world record for non-stop improvisation.
Rolande has had the distinction of performing in mime on BBC radio, wrote an original adaptation of ‘Bugsy Malone’ for the stage and after retirement returned to writing with a regular column for the weekly ‘Bucks Herald’ newspaper. He has more recently self-published his first memoir ’Notes In My Margin (no ordinary life)’ and had stories published in three anthologies. Currently he is working on bringing many of these interests together by writing and recording his own audio-books.
