Anne Allen

Anne has moved around quite a bit over the years, much to her children’s annoyance even though she did manage to find lovely homes by the sea. A self-employed psychotherapist, she always found ways to express her creativity and took up sculpture, mosaics, furniture painting and house renovations over the years until she realised it was time for something more gentle, more suited to someone getting older. Writing was an obvious choice and she made a great start by winning a true-life story competition in Prima magazine with a prize of £500 of M&S vouchers.

Spurred on, she wrote her first novel, Dangerous Waters, without a clue as to what she was doing, but with professional help managed to publish it with some success in 2012. By the third book she realised she was writing a series of standalone stories, all set in Guernsey where she had spent many happy years and aptly titled The Guernsey Novels.

Nine have now been published and are available as ebooks and paperbacks worldwide. The latest, The Ghost of Seagull Cottage, only published May 2024.

In order to switch off from the intensity of writing, Anne now enjoys alcohol ink painting, loving the ability to create something within minutes rather than months or years.
